Where Was beyond the Law (2019 Filmed)
Meanwhile, boss Adair and Packard argue after Adair condemns Packard`s behavior and accuses him of endangering their mafia family for his illegal murder of Chance. Packard hatches a plan to take control of the Mafia family with his father`s deputy. However, the conspiracy is quickly discovered and Adair kills his deputy as punishment. Meanwhile, Munce informs Packard of Frank`s two closest friends, and Packard sets out to silence Swilley. Munce tries to have Frank killed by other dirty cops as he comes out of the hospital. The ambush fails, and Frank meets Munce shortly thereafter and shoots him after admitting his corruption. Frank goes to Packard`s headquarters, where he confronts and kills him, but not before being wounded by one of Packard`s men. Soon after, boss Adair waits for Frank, who he now knows must be killed to protect his mafia operation and legacy. The two argue, but Adair easily subdued the wounded Frank and shot him. Police answer a 9-1-1 call on Frank`s phone, while the dying Frank smiles in contentment, knowing Adair will be jailed for life.
A young man named Chance Wilson falls into a life of corruption and returns to Intercity against the wishes of his father Frank Wilson (Johnny Messner). Frank Wilson initially hoped to keep his son safe and out of trouble by moving to the countryside after his wife`s death. Believing that life outside the big city is not a life at all, Chance returns to the city, where he becomes involved with gangsters led by Desmond Packard (Zack Ward). In town, Chance developed a well-known reputation for gambling, often betting more than he could afford. One night after playing at the Packard club, Chance is attacked in his apartment by Packard and his men. Chance is unable to raise the money he owes and is brutally beaten and shot by Packard. Another Steven Seagal film in which Seagal is not the star the last time Seagal played the lead role in his own film, but the lead role is played by a Johnny Messner. I don`t know his work, but he has an extreme „divorced paternal energy“, I just imagine his character calling 17-year-olds to Venice Beach and he would surely be more than the hero of this film there. It`s a plate of heavy beef growling through what looks like an imitation of Seagal while dropping „motherfucker“ left and right.
I`ve always loved Johnny Messner because he has this natural tough guy charisma and he has his voice, especially in Beyond the Law, where it`s sometimes hard to understand what he`s really saying. The same goes for Seagal, who always puts on that Louisiana accent and mumbles his lines so we can barely hear him; It`s hard to believe that this is the same man who starred in the Under Siege movies. He shows no emotion (as usual) and only has a short fight of 5 seconds at the end. The film was released on December 6, 2019 on VOD and in limited theaters. [2] [3] [4] The DVD was released on January 14, 2020. It is also a reunion for Seagal and DMX, who had already collaborated on Exit Wounds in 2001 5 . Beyond the Law was DMX`s last theatrical appearance before his death in April 2021. Truly horrific in almost every way, but worth the price of admission alone for Steven Seagal, whose presence brings what I can only call ethereal and otherworldly, just sitting on chairs, spitting out the whole film and moral difficulties that evoke a dark ascetic silence on the part of Straub/hulliet and the late Nic Refn, who is the only actor, which corresponds to the constantly dark synth music that covers the film.
Each scene of his own is a dream in itself DMX, a successful rapper with four consecutive albums who debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and Seagal starred together in the highly successful action blockbuster Exit Wounds in 2001. The final moments of the film follow Charlotte, who has apparently hidden in a hotel. She reads a last-minute newsletter on her smartphone in which she reports on Boss Adair`s arrest and interrogation for the murders of Frank Wilson and Detective Munce. Fearing her involvement, Charlotte tries to flee for her life, but is intercepted by one of Adair`s associates, who is armed with a gun. VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 14, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — About NetworkWire – The Wonderfilm Media Corporation („Wonderfilm“ or the „Company“) (OTCQB: WDRFF), (TSXV: WNDR), an internationally acclaimed producer of high-quality feature films and episodic television, today premieres its latest film, BEYOND THE LAW, starring Steven Seagal (Under Siege), DMX (Romeo Must Die) and Johnny Messner (Silencer). When Wilson returns to town, he meets Charlotte (Saxon Sharbino), who was Chance`s girlfriend and employed at one of the clubs that frequently visited Chance. Despite his claim that Chance has developed a bad reputation as a gambler with excessive debt, Frank discovers that Charlotte stole Chance`s money owed to Packard.
She confesses that she wanted to leave the city by chance, but that she could not convince him. Frank blames her for his son`s death and holds her responsible for the rest of his life. Frank also confronts Packard himself and vows justice for his son`s death. It later turns out that Munce is a dirty cop who works as an informant for Adair`s mafia. He reveals where Packard Frank is in the country, who then sends a team of killers. Frank sends most of the team members before he is injured. Munce visits the hospital where Frank is recovering and meets Frank`s friends, Swilley and Ashley. The story is about a former criminal turned entrepreneur (Johnny Messner) and a police detective (DMX) who are forced to confront a dirty former cop (Steven Seagal) who tries to bring his son`s murderer to justice.
Revenge thriller with Seagal in one of his supporting roles – which suit him well today. As expected, he does the bare necessities for the paycheck and the top payroll. Seagal smokes a few big cigars, intimidates in ASMR whispers and sits a lot.
